4/ Amman Industrial Exports Climb to JD 2.849 Billion in First Five Months of 2025

Amman, June 3 (Petra) -- Exports from the Amman Chamber of Industry (ACI) rose to JD 2.849 billion in the first five months of 2025, marking a 12.2% increase compared to the same period in 2024, according to official data obtained by the Jordan News Agency (Petra).

The continued growth signals the resilience and adaptability of Jordan’s industrial sector despite regional and global challenges. The chamber’s data shows that most industrial sectors contributed to this increase, with the exception of the wood and furniture sector and the packaging, paper, and office supplies sector, which declined by 14% and 9.2%, respectively.

Construction materials led all sectors in export growth, surging by 86.7% year-on-year. In contrast, the engineering, electrical, and IT sector posted marginal growth of 0.5%.

India, the United States, Saudi Arabia, and Iraq remained the top export destinations, collectively accounting for more than JD 1.63 billion, over half of the chamber’s total exports during the reporting period. Exports to India rose by 14.7% to JD 395 million, while those to Saudi Arabia increased by 7.2% to JD 352 million. Iraq imported JD 381 million worth of goods from ACI members, up 4.8% from last year.

Despite an overall decline of 5.1%, the United States remained the leading single-country destination for ACI exports, receiving JD 507 million in goods, down from JD 534 million in the same period last year.

The chamber also reported substantial increases in exports to regional neighbors. Exports to Syria surged by over 300%, reaching JD 114 million, while exports to Palestine rose by 21% to JD 69 million.

Arab countries topped the list of regional blocs receiving Amman’s industrial exports, with a total value of JD 1.396 billion. Non-Arab Asian countries followed with JD 566 million, and North America with JD 528 million. The European Union accounted for JD 148 million, African nations for JD 82 million, non-EU European countries for JD 79 million, South America for JD 20 million, and other countries for JD 27 million.

By sector, mining led with JD 610 million in exports, followed by chemicals and cosmetics at JD 532 million, and engineering and electrical products at JD 444 million. Exports of food, agricultural, and livestock products reached JD 417 million, medical and pharmaceutical products JD 273 million, and garments and leather goods JD 247 million.

Other sectors included plastics and rubber (JD 130 million), packaging and paper products (JD 102 million), construction materials (JD 87 million), and wood and furniture (JD 8 million).

Founded in 1962, the Amman Chamber of Industry currently represents around 8,600 industrial enterprises. These businesses collectively employ over 159,000 workers and operate with an estimated capital of JD 5 billion.
