38/ Jordan Pass sales jump 89% in May, signaling strong tourism recovery
Amman, June 3 (Petra) – Sales of the unified ticket designated for tourist areas and archaeological sites in Jordan (Jordan Pass) surged by 89 percent in May 2025 compared to the same month in 2024, reaching 15,929 tickets sold versus 8,447 last year, according to a statement issued Tuesday by the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities. Revenue from these ticket sales nearly doubled as well, climbing to approximately JOD 1.15 million in May 2025 from JOD 610,000 in May 2024 underscoring a notable rebound in tourism activity across the Kingdom. Tourism Minister Lina Annab said the unified ticket has become one of the ministry’s most successful promotional tools. Integrated into the national strategy to enhance Jordan’s tourism offering, the pass encourages tourists to visit more sites, thereby extending their stay and increasing overall spending. Annab emphasized that the digital availability of the ticket aligns with the ministry’s vision of delivering a seamless and comprehensive tourism experience, further enhancing Jordan’s competitiveness as a destination for cultural and heritage tourism on both regional and global levels. The ministry attributed the uptick in sales to the resumption of flights by several airlines that had temporarily suspended operations due to regional tensions. This recovery has helped re-energize international travel into Jordan. Launched in late 2015, Jordan’s unified ticket system is regarded as a cornerstone of its tourism marketing efforts. It aims to incentivize tourists to visit more attractions, extend their stays, and spend more during their visit. Priced at $100, the unified ticket grants access to 38 archaeological and tourist sites across Jordan for up to three months. It includes entry to Petra and exempts holders from visa fees, provided they stay at least three consecutive nights in the country. The ticket is available for purchase online via a dedicated platform and mobile apps, making it easy for visitors to access. Jordan is the first Arab country to implement such a comprehensive tourism pass, which also offers detailed site information, visiting hours, and additional services, enriching the visitor experience. //Petra// AF
