35/ Jordan congratulates Bahrain on winning UN Security Council seat
Amman, June 3 (Petra) The Ministry of Foreign and Expatriate Affairs on Tuesday extended its heartfelt congratulations to the Kingdom of Bahrain government and people on its election as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the 2026–2027 term, representing the Arab group in the influential international body. Ministry spokesperson Sufian Qudah emphasized that Bahrain’s well-earned seat reflects its esteemed standing at both the regional and international levels, as well as the distinction of its diplomacy and its notable efforts in promoting regional and global peace, security, and humanitarian and development programs worldwide. Qudah also reaffirmed Jordan’s full support for Bahrain and its efforts to carry out its international responsibilities successfully, particularly in serving Arab interests, chief among them the Palestinian cause. He further expressed appreciation for Algeria's efforts during its ongoing term on the Security Council, which ends this year, particularly in defending Arab causes and the Palestinian issue. Jordan also extended congratulations to the Republic of Colombia, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, the Republic of Latvia, and the Republic of Liberia on their election to non-permanent seats on the Security Council for the 2026–2027 term, affirming Jordan’s support for these friendly countries in their efforts to enhance international peace and security. //Petra// AF
