Aqaba, June 3 (Petra) - The cruise ship "Aroya" on Tuesday docked at Aqaba Port, carrying approximately 3,513 tourists, the majority of whom are Saudi nationals, as well as its 1,437 crew members. In press remarks, Commissioner for Economic Development and Tourism at Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), Hamza Haj Hassan, said the step is part of a series of the ship's scheduled visits to Aqaba, reflecting the port city's importance as a "regional port and an attractive" destination for cruise tourism. Within its 2024-2028 strategic plan, Haj Hassan noted the ASEZA is working to enhance the city's tourist experience, raise its readiness, and develop logistical services to receive additional luxury liners and provide "quality" travel programs that reflect "diversity" of Aqaba's tourist product. Haj Hassan said ASEZA outlined a program to operate trips for the new tourists from Aqaba to visit the archeological sites in Petra and Wadi Rum. //Petra// AG
