16/ Khasawneh: King leads Jordan's comprehensive reform drive
Amman, June 3 (Petra) - The Kingdom's reform project, with its three political, economic, and administrative tracks, is a "renaissance" scheme and a path of clear achievements, as the state entered its 2nd centennial under His Majesty King Abdullah II's leadership, First Deputy Speaker of the Lower House of Representatives, Dr. Mustafa Khasawneh, said. Talking to "Jadaliyyat-Controversies" Show, aired on Yarmouk FM and moderated by Ahmed Shatnawi, Khasawneh ruled out rivalry in the work of the House and the government, as relations are based on joint cooperation within the constitutional framework that governs this process to serves Jordan's higher interest. The MP also referred to the "flexible" segregation of powers, based on the Constitution, which defines aspects of mutual cooperation, oversight tools, and their executive mechanisms. The lawmaker added that oversight on government work is "necessary to achieve balance and serve the state's supreme interests," indicating that the Jordanian Constitution is "advanced," compared to other documents globally. To reflect the various amendments on the Jordanian Constitution, he stressed the necessity to improve the House's internal regulations and amend the procedural rules to enhance oversight role of parties, blocs, and coalitions within Parliament. Khasawneh said any future improvements on the House's internal regulations should reflect the "comprehensive" reforms on the Kingdom's political system in accordance with the Royal vision. //Petra// AG
