14/ High-Level Dialogue Launches Education Sector Review, Strategic Planning for 2026–2030

Amman, June 3 (Petra) – A high-level political dialogue on education opened Tuesday in Amman, bringing together more than 200 senior government officials, development partners, and key education stakeholders to review sector progress, launch preparations for the 2026–2030 Education Strategic Plan, and present the first comprehensive analysis of Jordan’s education system.

Speaking on behalf of Minister of Education Azmi Mahafzah, Secretary-General for Educational Affairs Nawaf Ajarmah described the event as a milestone in institutional educational development. He noted that the Ministry is set to release its annual monitoring and evaluation report, which will serve as a reference for evidence-based planning and results-oriented reform.

Ajarmah underscored that the report reflects the Ministry’s commitment to transparency and self-evaluation, aiming not only to monitor performance but to identify strengths, gaps, and strategic priorities. He emphasized the need to transform mindsets, empower educators, and create school environments that foster creativity, dignity, and student potential.

The report and analysis are aligned with the Kingdom’s broader vision for modernizing the education system in line with royal directives, focusing on critical thinking, innovation, and active citizenship. The upcoming strategic plan will set measurable targets and policy directions across early childhood, general, vocational, and higher education, with special attention to equity, quality, digital transformation, and climate change.

UNESCO Representative and Jordan Office Director Noha Bawazir commended the Ministry’s efforts and highlighted the report’s role in aligning education priorities with national development and global education goals. She reaffirmed the commitment to inclusive, quality education that equips students for a changing world.

The opening session featured presentations on the strategic planning agenda and methodology by Dr. Faisal Hawari and on the Ministry’s role in the Economic Modernization Vision by Dr. Ahlam Nasser. Participants will engage in focused sessions on equity, gender, quality, and finance, culminating in a joint memorandum outlining strategic recommendations for the 2026–2030 plan.
