12/ Jordan, Iraq Discuss New Phase of Economic Partnership

Amman, June 3 (Petra) – President of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, Khalil Haj Tawfiq, met Tuesday with Iraqi Ambassador Omar Barzanji to explore avenues for strengthening economic cooperation and transitioning bilateral ties into a broader partnership framework.

Tawfiq emphasized the importance of enhancing trade exchange and establishing joint investment ventures to leverage emerging economic opportunities in both countries. He called for capitalizing on the shared historical and regional ties between Jordan and Iraq to advance their mutual economic interests.

Barzanji described the bilateral relationship as historic and deeply rooted but acknowledged the need for greater momentum in economic collaboration. He announced that the Iraqi Embassy has started issuing Jordanian businessmen travel visas valid for up to one year, easing access for commercial engagement.

He also extended an invitation to Jordanian businesses and service-sector representatives to attend an upcoming economic forum organized by the Iraqi government in mid-June. The event will present 139 major investment opportunities across diverse sectors, with a particular call for Jordanian participation.
