  23/ 44 public teachers end GJU's Mental Health Diploma

Madaba, June 1 (Petra) –Deputizing for His Royal Highness Prince El Hassan bin Talal, former Minister of Education, Higher Education, and Scientific Research, Dr. Walid Maani, on Sunday sponsored graduation ceremony of public teachers participating in the training diploma program of Mental Health and Community Work.

The program, which was implemented by the German Jordanian University (GJU)'s School of Applied Humanities and Social Sciences (SAHSS), came in cooperation with its Consulting and Training Center.

Talking to the graduation ceremony, Maani said "mental health is no longer a luxury, but rather a fundamental pillar in building the individual and society, especially amid the world's current increasing shifts and pressures".

Maani noted community work in the field of Jordan's mental health is an "integrated endeavor" that requires awareness, resilienece, and high human skills.

Maani also the role of program's graduates aims to serve as a bridge between academic knowledge and societal needs.

"Alumni are the best eligible category to grasp the social and cultural fabric and are closest to people's concerns and hopes and have the ability to intervene early and provide appropriate support," he pointed out.

In turn, GJU President Dr. Ala'aldeen Al-Halhouli noted the university is "unique in this pioneering" program at the national level, representing a "qualitative" achievement that refelcts its vision of offering "innovative" applied programs that respond to the society's needs and challenges and contribute to enhancing worker efficiency in the field, particularly in top priority areas, mainly mental health and social work.

Al-Halhouli stated enlightened support and vision of His Royal Highness Prince El Hassan bin Talal were a "major" motivation for designing and developing the program, reflecting His Highness's belief that investing in people is the cornerstone of building cohesive and stable societies.

Concluding the ceremony, Al-Halhouli presented certificates to the 44 graduate teachers from the Ministry of Education.

The beneficiaries received full scholarships to join the diploma that were provided by the GJU-run Syrian-Jordanian Education Program and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).
