26/ ASEZA, Abu Dhabi Ports coordinate to implement development projects in Aqaba

Aqaba, July 31 (Petra) - Chairman of Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), Shadi "Ramzi" Majali, affirmed the authority's "commitment" to providing services to citizens and investors within laws that facilitate procedures and decisions to serve the public interest, positioning Aqaba as "a global logistics, investment, and commercial hub."

Chairing a coordination meeting with Abu Dhabi Ports and MAG Group on Thursday, Majali said ASEZA views Marsa Zayed project with "great" interest due to its economic importance to Aqaba and the Kingdom.

Majali noted talks aim to coordinate, organize, and plan between the ASEZA and Abu Dhabi Ports to implement a number of projects that would contribute to the future development of Aqaba's infrastructure.

Aqaba Development Company (ADC) CEO Hussein Safadi noted the company signed five agreements with Abu Dhabi Ports.

At the forefront, he referred to establishment of a company to manage and digitize the Aqaba's port system and implement Marsa Zayed project, adding that its foundation stone was recently laid under patronage of Prime Minister.

Safadi announced the two sides are still cooperating to manage Aqaba General Port.

Talking at the meeting, Executive Director of Marsa Zayed project, Mohammed Nimer, said the first phase of the project began five months ago with Riviera Heights, which includes 4 towers, 1,300 apartments, and commercial departments and services.

Nimer added that the project covers an area of approximately 400,000 square meters, valuing ASEZA's efforts in cooperating with the companies implementing the project.

Nimer hoped these projects will serve as "a model" for development and investment in the tourist city of Aqaba.
