  29/ Gov't to develop EMV executive program 2026-2029 mid-September-Minister 

Amman, July 30 (Petra) - Minister of State for Economic Affairs Muhannad Shehadeh on Wednesday said the government will develop an executive program for the Economic Modernization Vision (EMV) 2026-2029 mid-September.

Shehadeh affirmed the government's "commitment" to take the necessary measures to stimulate economic growth, in accordance with the Royal directives and vision for modernization and enhance confidence in the national economy.

Shehadeh made the announcement during the Senate's Finance and Economic Committee session, held to discuss the government's economic policies with the Ministerial Economic Team, chaired by Dr. Rajai Muasher.

Talking at the session, Muasher called for periodically reviewing the government's economic and financial plans amid the region's accelerating developments, as well as the decisions on imports customs tariffs and their impact on the Economic Modernization Vision.

Muasher pointed to the impact on tourism, investment flows, and an analysis of economic growth and unemployment figures.

In turn, members of the government's economic team presented the key indicators of the national economy until end of last May.

The ministers said revenues reached JD4.67 billion, while capital expenditure is estimated at JD425 million, compared to JD375 million for the same period last year.

In a related context, the ministers referred to continuing efforts to reduce public debt to 80% of GDP by 2028, noting increase in the investment volume, number of registered companies by 35% and tourists by 3%.

The team also noted measures to promote renewable energy and green hydrogen, expand the use of natural gas in the industrial sector, and conclude new agreements in the mining sector.

The economic team includes Ministers of Tourism, Lina Annab; Industry, Trade, and Supply, Yarub Qudah; Energy, Saleh Kharabsheh; Investment, Muthanna Gharaibeh; Planning and International Cooperation, Zeina Touqan; and Finance, Abdul Hakim Shibli.
