20/ Rasheed Organization Launches Updated Political Orientation Tool
Amman, July 30 (Petra) – The Rasheed Organization for Integrity and Transparency (Transparency International Jordan) on Wednesday launched an updated version of the interactive digital tool Know Your Party Orientation, as part of its "Integrity" project. The initiative is supported by the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation and the European Union, and aims to enhance political awareness and social accountability by helping citizens understand their political leanings and compare them with the platforms of political parties in Jordan. At the launch ceremony, Musa Maaytah, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Independent Election Commission, underscored the importance of structured political party work in developing political life. He highlighted that Jordan’s political modernization is guided by a comprehensive vision under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, noting that adherence to the Constitution and the law is key to ensuring the success and sustainability of this effort. Maaytah affirmed that Jordan remains committed to implementing the requirements of political modernization, despite regional challenges and the ongoing war on Gaza. He cited the holding of the most recent parliamentary elections as a testament to Jordan's dedication to advancing its democratic process. He called on political parties to move beyond general slogans and present clear, actionable programs that can genuinely represent the public through the ballot box. He also pointed to the Commission’s role in strengthening political parties through training programs on election campaign management and efforts to boost youth and women's participation. Abeer Madanat, Executive Director of the Rasheed Organization, emphasized that meaningful political participation reinforces public trust and strengthens national cohesion. She stressed that party engagement is essential for promoting good governance, supporting marginalized groups, advancing equality and social justice, and driving inclusive development and cross-sector partnerships. Madanat said the "Party Dialogue" platform, launched by the organization last year, has evolved into an interactive digital space where citizens from various governorates can raise and discuss their concerns with political parties. This evolution, she added, enhances accountability, strengthens citizen-party engagement, and narrows the gap between both sides. The platform includes the "Adopt My Issue" tool, which connects citizens with political parties and civil society organizations to prioritize and adopt pressing issues. She added that the Know Your Party Orientation tool was updated following an in-depth analysis of party platforms and positions on critical sectors such as education, the economy, foreign policy, agriculture, and tourism, in alignment with Jordan’s political modernization agenda. Francis Bella, representative of the Spanish Embassy Mission, highlighted the strong Jordanian-Spanish partnership and the significance of the Integrity project in promoting governance and transparency. He affirmed that Spain’s support stems from its international commitment to upholding integrity and accountability and praised the tool’s quality and content as a product of effective collaboration with Rasheed. Adam Johnson, European Union Commission representative, underlined the vital role of civil society in advancing Jordan’s political modernization process. He reaffirmed the EU’s commitment to democracy, human rights, accountability, and youth empowerment through tools that enable young people to discern between political platforms and engage more meaningfully in public life. The Know Your Party Orientation tool analyzes participants’ responses to a digital survey and compares them with the stances of Jordanian political parties on key issues, including education, the economy, environment, governance, and healthcare. The tool is designed to help individuals objectively identify their political position, deepen their political awareness, and engage them in Jordan’s national reform process. //Petra// AJ
