18/ Naval force rescues tourist boat in Aqaba
Amman, July 28 (Petra) – Coast Guard crews of the Royal Jordanian Navy and Royal Boats, rescued a tourist boat that developed a sudden mechanical failure in Gulf of Aqaba waters Sunday night, but there were no injuries. A coast guard patrol and medics rushed to the scene after the maritime operations center received a mayday call, and evacuated the crew and passengers without any injuries reported, the navy said. It said the vessel was secured and prevented from sinking. The quick response reflects the readiness and professionalism of the Coast Guard in performing their humanitarian and security tasks in an integrated work system, the naval force said. The Coast Guard, one of the modern units of the Jordanian Navy and Royal Boats, is tasked with regulating maritime activity in Jordanian territorial waters, monitoring vessels, conducting search and rescue operations, providing ambulance service, and protecting the marine environment and tourist and industrial facilities in the Gulf of Aqaba and the Dead Sea region. //Petra//SS
