33/ Empowerment programs are among Social Development Ministry's top priorities, says Minister
Amman, July 27 (Petra) Minister of Social Development and Chairwoman of the National Aid Fund (NAF), Wafa Bani Mustafa, said Sunday that the ministry, through the Fund and in line with Royal directives, places great importance on economic and social empowerment programs. These efforts, she noted, go beyond financial support to include professional, psychological, and social empowerment, aimed at helping families build a better future. Her remarks came during a graduation ceremony she patronized for 32 women beneficiaries who successfully completed a technical machine embroidery course. The training was conducted by the Apparel Design and Training Services Center, marking a significant step in economic and social empowerment. Bani Mustafa said the course was part of seven training programs held across various governorates, benefiting more than 215 individuals through an effective partnership between the NAF and the Apparel Design Center. Training women who are beneficiaries of the Fund, she added, creates opportunities for small-scale projects and income-generating initiatives. These programs improve the economic status of trainees, enhance their community roles, and help provide a steady source of income for their families. She encouraged the graduates to continue developing their skills and to act as agents of positive change within their communities, highlighting that this program represents a vital shift from dependency to productivity and from passivity to initiative. Ihab Al-Qaderi, Chairman of the Apparel Design and Training Services Center, praised the partnership with the Fund, describing the course as one of the most advanced in the field of machine embroidery technologies. NAF Director General Khitam Shneikat said the Fund has adopted a strategy of delivering high-quality economic empowerment programs designed to enhance beneficiaries’ ability to enter the labor market and establish income-generating ventures. Meanwhile, Hassan Nsour, Director of the Apparel Design and Training Services Center, said the Center continuously upgrades its training offerings to equip participants with specialized skills in sewing and machine embroidery. //Petra// AF
