12/ Amman Begins Third Phase of Neighborhood Development Project
Amman, July 27 (Petra) -- The Greater Amman Municipality (GAM) has launched the third phase of its national strategic project to develop Amman’s neighborhoods, under the name "al-Mahatta Beautification," which includes upgrading a 700-meter stretch of Jaish Street. According to a statement issued Sunday by GAM, Executive Director of the Amman Neighborhoods and Tourist Trails Development Project, Mohammad Abu Zaytoun, said this phase aims to improve traffic flow on Jaish Street by adding a fourth lane and upgrading infrastructure, including stormwater and wastewater drainage systems. It also involves removing the deteriorating linear park and damaged walls that pose safety risks. Abu Zaytoun noted that the work includes building fences, new sidewalks, modern street lighting, advertising panels, and creating green urban spaces with trees, along with constructing pedestrian bridges to ease movement for residents. He added that the neighborhood development project comprises several phases focused on the al-Mahatta area. The first two phases have already been completed and included the construction of a park and a playground. Upcoming phases will involve expanding Rfifan Majali and Jaish Streets by removing all violations encroaching on the regulatory width and redesigning traffic to better serve the local community, given the area’s importance as one of the capital’s main gateways. The third phase is expected to be completed within two months, including full resurfacing of the upgraded section of Jaish Street. The project is being implemented by GAM in collaboration with specialized consultants to ensure the highest standards of quality and safety. //Petra// AO
