31/ Jordan welcomes French president's declaration his nation intends to recognize state of Palestine
Amman, July 25 (Petra)-- The Ministry of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs welcomed the announcement by French President Emmanuel Macron that Paris will formally recognize the State of Palestine at the UN General Assembly sessions in September of next year. In terms of implementing the two-state solution and putting an end to the occupation, this is a positive step. According to Ambassador Sufian Al-Qudah, the Ministry's official spokesperson, the Kingdom is grateful for the French President's decision and views it as a significant step in thwarting attempts to deny the Palestinian people their inalienable right to self-determination and the creation of an independent and sovereign state on their own territory. According to the Arab Peace Initiative and international legitimacy resolutions, Ambassador Al-Qudah went on to say that this announcement is in line with international efforts to recognize a sovereign Palestinian state on the lines of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the two-state solution. Under the joint chairmanship of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the French Republic, Ambassador Al-Qudah underlined the significance of the high-level international conference for a peaceful resolution of the Palestinian issue and the implementation of the two-state solution, which is set to take place in New York. In order to achieve a fair and complete peace that ensures security, this conference will rally international support for the Palestinian state's continued recognition under the two-state solution. Ambassador Al-Qudah reaffirmed the Kingdom's unwavering commitment to working with its brothers and allies around the world to support the Palestinian people's right to self-determination, freedom, and the creation of an independent state on their territory. //Petra// MF
