Amman, July 10 (Petra) – The General Consumer Price Index (CPI), a key measure of inflation, reached 112.55 points in the first half of 2025, compared to 110.36 points for the same period in 2024, reflecting a 1.98% increase, according to the monthly report issued Thursday by the Department of Statistics.

When comparing cumulative figures for the first half of 2025 with the same period in 2024, the Consumer Price Index showed the highest increases in several categories, including personal belongings, which rose by 20.08%, tobacco and cigarettes by 12.61%, fruits and nuts by 8.50%, tea, coffee, and cocoa by 7.42%, and spices, food enhancers, and other food items by 5.37%.

For June 2025, the CPI reached 112.98 points, compared to 110.74 points in June 2024, registering a 2.02% year-on-year increase.

The categories that contributed most to the annual increase in June were: personal belongings, tobacco and cigarettes, fruits and nuts, tea and coffee, and spices and other food items. Conversely, the impact was partially offset by decreases in the prices of furniture, carpets and bedding, household items, seafood, and home appliances.

Month-on-month, the CPI rose slightly by 0.19%, from 112.77 points in May 2025 to 112.98 points in June 2025.

Key contributors to the monthly rise included: communication services, rents, personal belongings, meat and poultry, and seafood products.
