  15/ Industrial Production Index Rises 2.07% in First 5 Months of 2025

Amman, July 10 (Petra) -- The Industrial Production Quantity Index rose by 2.07 percent in the first five months of this year, reaching 87.29 points compared to 85.52 points for the same period last year, according to the monthly report issued Thursday by the Department of Statistics.

The increase was driven by a 2.09 percent rise in manufacturing production and a 5.97 percent increase in electricity production, while the mining and quarrying sector recorded a decline of 3.48 percent.

On a monthly basis, the index for May stood at 87.95 points, up by 0.74 percent compared to 87.3 points in May last year.

Compared to May 2024, the rise was mainly due to a 10.93 percent increase in mining and quarrying output and an 8.26 percent rise in electricity production, while manufacturing output edged down by 0.32 percent.

The index for May 2025 also rose by 2.95 percent compared to April, which recorded 85.43 points.

At the sector level, production in May increased compared to April 2025 as follows: manufacturing was up by 2.12 percent, mining and quarrying rose by 11.42 percent, and electricity production grew by 8.24 percent.
