11/ Al-Aman Fund Launches Competency Framework to Empower Orphaned Youth
Amman, July 10 (Petra) -- The Al-Aman Fund for the Future of Orphans has launched a competency framework designed to enhance the skills and capacities of orphaned youth, enabling them to overcome challenges hindering their integration into society following their graduation from care institutions. According to a statement issued by the Fund on Thursday, the framework is part of its strategic approach to developing a comprehensive support system rooted in modern international standards, including the 2030 Learning Framework issued by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), and adapted to the local context to ensure sustainable impact. The statement highlighted that orphaned youth often face a range of challenges after leaving care homes, including limited access to education and vocational training, inadequate social support networks, low digital literacy and cybersecurity awareness, and difficulty adapting to the personal and social demands of independent life challenges further exacerbated by the evolving needs of the labor market. To address these gaps, the Fund announced a series of training workshops this July targeting around 30 male and female beneficiaries. These sessions, led by specialized trainers, will cover areas such as self-awareness, self-management, and emotional intelligence. The program aims to build participants’ psychological, personal, and digital skills through training in emotional regulation, ethical values, critical thinking, and problem-solving, thereby fostering personal growth and professional empowerment. Director General of the Fund, Nour Hamoud, said the launch of the "Competency Framework" marks a significant step toward securing a better future for the Fund’s beneficiaries. "The empowerment journey is a transformative process tailored to the individual needs of participants, and we can clearly witness its impact in how they perceive themselves and approach challenges with confidence and accountability," she added. Since its establishment in 2006 under the initiative of Her Majesty Queen Rania, the Fund has implemented approximately 189 capacity-building programs, reaching more than 2,750 orphaned youth. The programs include educational scholarships, vocational training, and living, healthcare, and psychological support, alongside personal development initiatives. //Petra// AJ
