Amman, July 8 (Petra) – Head of the Lower House’s National Guidance and Media Committee, MP Firas Qablan, said Jordanian-Egyptian relations are undergoing a phase of deep alignment and constructive development, reflecting the strong brotherly ties between the leaderships of both countries. He stressed the importance of further strengthening these ties, especially through parliamentary and media cooperation. Qablan made the remarks during a meeting in Cairo on Tuesday with the chairman of Egypt’s Supreme Council for Media Regulation, Khaled Abdel Aziz. The meeting was attended by media council deputy Essam El-Amir and president of the Arab Producers Union Ibrahim Abu Zekri. Describing Jordanian-Egyptian relations as currently at their best, Qablan pointed to shared regional and international outlooks, particularly on the Palestinian issue. He praised the warm welcome and collaboration extended to the Jordanian delegation by various Egyptian media institutions. Qablan also commended Egypt’s progress in the economic, social, and cultural spheres, describing it as a "big sister" with a pioneering role in the region. Members of the delegation, including MPs Mohammad Sbailah, Ahmad Al-Rekp, Dr. Ayman Abu Rub, Fathi Al-Bawwat, and Vice President of the Jordan Press Association (JPA) Awni Al-Daoud, emphasized Egypt’s status as a cultural and media beacon for Jordan and the Arab world. They stressed the need to unify Arab media discourse and enhance joint cooperation among Arab media institutions, calling for Egypt’s central role in shaping that discourse due to its institutional experience and capabilities. The delegation also discussed with Abdel Aziz ways to activate a bilateral media cooperation protocol to serve shared interests and promote joint Arab media efforts. For his part, Abdel Aziz highlighted the depth of Egyptian-Jordanian ties and noted the broad alignment between the two nations on key political issues, underpinned by strong coordination between their leaderships. In a related meeting, the delegation, joined by JPA Vice President, Awni Al-Daoud, met with Khaled El-Balshy, head of Egypt’s Journalists Syndicate, and other council members. The discussion focused on press-related issues, professional development, and the possibility of signing a joint cooperation agreement between the two journalists’ unions. The delegation also visited the headquarters of "Sawt Al-Arab" (Voice of the Arabs) radio station, where they congratulated its president, Abdulrahman El-Basyouni, on the station’s 72nd anniversary and reviewed its distinctive historical and creative media content. //Petra// AF
