23/ Princess Alia visits Royal Environmental Protection Department
Amman, July 8 (Petra) – Her Royal Highness Princess Alia bint Al Hussein visited the Royal Environmental Protection Department at the Public Security Directorate (PSD) on Tuesday, where she reviewed its efforts in environmental conservation and natural resource sustainability. Princess Alia praised the department's dedicated work, highlighting its successes in enforcing environmental laws and legislation. She commended the department's role in raising awareness and educating the public about environmental issues. PSD Director Major General Obaidallah Maaytah discussed the department's role in maintaining environmental security. He pointed out the logistical and operational support that enables the department to carry out its duties effectively preventing environmental violations, assisting relevant agencies and ensuring the ongoing preservation of natural resources. The Princess listened to a briefing from Brigadier General Tamby Hamkari, Director of the Department, who outlined its core responsibilities, operational mechanisms and collaborative efforts with government and civil society partners.
