18/ Senate Donates JD50,000 to Football Association, Urges National Support for World Cup Campaign

Amman, July 8 (Petra) -- The Senate on Tuesday donated JD50,000 to the Jordan Football Association in support of the national team following its historic qualification for the World Cup finals.

Senate President Faisal Fayez said the contribution reflects the Senate’s commitment to supporting the national team and acknowledging its significant achievement in reaching the World Cup, a milestone in Jordan’s football history. He stressed the importance of unified national efforts from government bodies, private sector institutions, and civil society to sustain the team’s success and provide the resources necessary for its preparation and participation at the global level.

Fayez called for a "national rally behind the national team," encouraging banks, companies, business leaders, and chambers of commerce and industry to support the Football Association and ensure the team’s readiness to compete internationally and represent Jordan with pride.

He explained that the donation was made through the Senate’s Social Responsibility Fund, which is financed through monthly deductions from members’ bonuses. The Fund is managed by a specialized committee and channels contributions toward national initiatives and projects aligned with development goals and the principles of social responsibility and solidarity promoted by His Majesty King Abdullah II.

Jordan Football Association Vice President Marwan Jumaa expressed gratitude for the Senate’s support, emphasizing the importance of legislative reforms to further develop football and encourage investment in the sport.

For her part, Federation Secretary-General Samar Nassar outlined the Association’s strategic plan (2023-2028), focused on enhancing competitiveness and ensuring sustainable development. She highlighted ongoing projects, including new training facilities, an upgraded headquarters, a dedicated national team stadium, and a specialized sports and medical center aimed at elevating technical standards.
