Amman, July 8 (Petra) - Minister of Water and Irrigation, Raed Abu Soud, on Tuesday received the Syrian Deputy Minister of Energy for Water Resources, Osama Abu Zeid, Chairman of the Syrian Technical Committee for Water.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the meetings of the joint committee tasked to discuss mutual water issues.

According to a ministry statement, the delegation visited Water Sector Operations Control and Monitoring Center at the ministry's headquarters, which is an "advanced" facility for integrating modern water management systems, dealing with emergencies and monitoring water resources remotely.

The delegation was briefed on the progress of water resource operation and monitoring in Jordan's various governorates, as well as dam monitoring and safety, procedures and efforts of maintenance teams nationwide, which are electronically connected to the remote operations center.

Additionally, the delegates learned about water reservoirs, pumping stations, and dams connected to the center under an early warning system and a remote monitoring system in all Jordan's governorates, as well as joint coordination with institutions.

The delegation, in turn, praised Jordan's efforts and "prudent" water management in "efficiently" addressing water scarcity, expressing their desire to transfer the Jordanian experience to Syria.
