15/ Jordan, Greece Discuss Parliamentary Ties
Amman, July 6 (Petra) -- The Jordanian-Greek Friendship Committee in the Senate, headed by Senator Mohammad Dawodieh, met on Sunday with Greek Ambassador to Jordan, Irene Riga, to explore ways to enhance bilateral relations, particularly parliamentary cooperation. Dawodieh highlighted the deep-rooted historical ties between the two countries, which continue to receive the support and attention of both nations’ leaderships. He stressed the importance of building on the fruitful cooperation achieved in recent years, especially in parliamentary, economic, cultural, and tourism sectors. He noted that Jordanian-Greek relations are steadily growing, driven by shared visions and mutual interests. He also underscored the crucial role of parliamentary friendship committees and diplomatic missions in strengthening dialogue channels and exchanging expertise at both official and grassroots levels. Dawodieh praised His Majesty King Abdullah II’s unwavering efforts in defending the Palestinian cause and safeguarding Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem under the historic Hashemite Custodianship, as well as his pivotal role in supporting regional and international security and stability. For her part, Riga expressed her country’s appreciation for the advanced level of Jordanian-Greek relations and commended Jordan’s vital regional role under King Abdullah II’s leadership, especially in addressing regional challenges, supporting the Palestinian cause, and striving for peace amid the ongoing Israeli war on Gaza. She reaffirmed Greece’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Jordan across various fields, including education, culture, tourism, investment, parliamentary affairs, and renewable energy.
