15/ Environment Ministry, University of Jordan ink water resources development project agreement
Amman, January 20 (Petra) -- The Environment Ministry and the University of Jordan (JU) signed a cooperation agreement on Monday to launch the "Development and Sustainability of Water and Pastoral Resources" project at the Muwaqqar Station for Dryland Research. Funded by the Environment Ministry, the agreement was signed by Minister of Environment Muawieh Radaideh and President of the University of Jordan Nazir Obeidat. Radaideh said the project aims to develop and sustain natural resources at the Muwaqqar Station, positioning it as a model for developing and preserving natural resources in the Jordanian Badia. It would be a hub for transferring effective technologies to rehabilitate Badia pastures. This objective aligns with the community action plan created by the Jordanian Badia Rehabilitation Programme, he said. Obeidat, in turn, said the project is a "significant" step in strengthening the partnership with the Ministry to promote sustainable development and protect natural resources. He added that the initiative would improve local communities' environmental and economic conditions. //Petra// AK
