9/ National Football Team Intensifies Training in Qatar Ahead of World Cup Qualifiers
Amman, Jan. 19 (Petra) - The Jordanian national football team has stepped up its technical and physical preparation during a training camp in Qatar, which will continue until January 29. This camp is part of the team’s strategy for the third and final round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. The players engage in rigorous morning and evening training sessions, starting with gym workouts at their residence, followed by field training at Qatar University Stadium. The camp includes three friendly matches. The team will face Russia's FC Zenit Saint Petersburg at 5 pm next Tuesday at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium, with a rematch set for 8 pm next Friday at Grand Hamad Stadium. The camp concludes with a match against Uzbekistan on Monday, January 27, at Abdullah bin Khalifa Stadium. The national team, known as Al-Nashama, currently ranks third in Group Two with 9 points, trailing South Korea with 14 points and Iraq with 11. Oman, Kuwait, and Palestine follow with 6, 4, and 3 points, respectively. In the current qualifiers system, 18 teams are split into three groups. The top two teams from each group will directly qualify for the 2026 World Cup, while the third and fourth-place teams will compete in a fourth qualifying round. //Petra// AO
