48/ Transport Minister, public bus owners discuss sector's demands
Amman, Jan. 19 (Petra) – Minister of Transport Wissam Tahtamouni met with public bus owners to discuss the sector's demands and challenges. The meeting was attended by the Director-General of the Land Transport Regulatory Commission (LTRC), Alaa Shbeilat, and members of the committee formed to study the sector and identify incentives needed for its development. Tahtamouni confirmed that the Ministry, through the LTRC, is striving to develop the sector and enhance its efficiency in a way that benefits everyone. She highlighted that the committee, which includes all relevant parties, including bus owners' representatives, is currently working on a set of recommendations to elevate the sector and improve the conditions of those working in it. She stated that the new mechanism aims to balance operating costs with economic developments, ensuring the continuity of services and fairness for all parties involved. For his part, Shbeilat emphasized that the LTRC is doing everything it can to facilitate operators' work while ensuring they provide suitable services to citizens and adhere to transportation routes. Committee members from the sector also presented the main areas they are focusing on, linked to a clear work program. This meeting is part of the Ministry's ongoing efforts to improve the public transport sector and ensure a balance between the rights of operators and the needs of citizens. It is part of a series of meetings held by the Ministry to foster dialogue with various stakeholders in the transport sector, with the aim of finding innovative and sustainable solutions that contribute to the sector's development and service improvement. //Petra// AF
