Amman, Jan. 18 (Petra) – A group of student unions from Jordanian universities expressed their pride in Jordan's unwavering stance, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah, in supporting the Palestinian cause and the rightful struggle of the Palestinian people to establish their independent state on their homeland, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

In a statement issued on Saturday, the unions emphasized that Jordan's steadfast positions on the Palestinian issue represent a rich Hashemite legacy that reflects the commitment of the Hashemite leadership to defend the rights of the Palestinian people and the issues of the Arab nation.

They expressed their full support for the Hashemite leadership, which carries the responsibility for Palestine and is entrusted with defending the Islamic and Christian holy sites in the city of Jerusalem. They also affirmed their strong resolve to continue supporting Palestinian rights and justice in all forums.

The statement added: "Jordan’s positions, under the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah II, have always been a shield against attempts to erase Palestinian identity, and a truthful voice in international forums that restores dignity to the Arab nation. As students in every academic institution across this country who carry the battle for Arabism in every academic year, we announce our full support for Jordan’s efforts in advocating for the Palestinian cause."

It continued: "Under the directives of His Majesty King Abdullah, Jordan has worked to ensure that the Palestinian cause remains at the forefront of global agendas, despite attempts to erase and marginalize it. During the recent aggression on Gaza, Jordan's honorable positions demonstrated the authenticity of this role, which is not limited to political and diplomatic support but also includes humanitarian efforts, from airdrops that brought hope to those in need to hospitals that provided treatment and aid in Gaza, the West Bank, and the relief that reached our people in Gaza. These are just a few examples of Jordan's continuous national and pan-Arab role in defending the Palestinian cause and all just Arab issues."

The unions that participated in issuing the statement include: the Student Union of the University of Jordan, the Student Union of Jordan University of Science and Technology, the Student Union of Al-Hussein University, the Student Union of Jerash University, the Student Union of Yarmouk University, the Student Union of the German University, and the Student Union of Mutah University.
