21/ 1.6 million students return to schools on Sunday
Amman, Jan. 18 (Petra) – The Ministry of Education has finished all the preparations to welcome the approximately 1.6 million pupils who will return to school on Sunday for the start of the second semester. Sahar Shkhaterah, the Ministry Secretary-General for Administrative and Financial Affairs, confirmed that the Ministry continues to implement its decision to adjust the start of the school day until the beginning of Ramadan. In single-shift schools, morning assembly will begin at 8:15 AM, with the first class starting at 8:30 AM. In afternoon-shift schools, assembly will begin at 12:50 PM, with the first class starting at 1:00 PM. Shkhaterah also noted that students will have their textbooks in hand on the first day of school, as the Ministry has completed the receipt and delivery of all textbook tenders to the directorates. Additionally, preparations have been finalized to provide heaters for all classrooms. She mentioned that seven schools have been received in the governorates of Zarqa, Mafraq, Balqa, Karak, and Ma’an, with a total of 99 classrooms. In addition, four supplementary classroom projects have been completed, adding 20 more classrooms. The Ministry will continue to implement its sustainable national remedial program in the second semester, aimed at supporting students' learning by taking remedial measures to compensate for learning losses and improve academic performance. //Petra// AF
