17/ JMA to host conference on rehabilitating health sector in Gaza on Jan 23, 24
Amman, Jan. 18 (Petra) – Under the patronage of HRH Prince El Hassan bin Talal, the Jordan Medical Association (JMA) will host an international conference titled "Relief for the Health Sector in Gaza" on January 23-24, with the participation of experts from 24 Arab and international countries. The JMA stated in a statement on Saturday that the conference is being held as the health sector in Gaza faces unprecedented catastrophic challenges. The dire health situation represents one of the most pressing humanitarian and ethical crises in modern history, necessitating urgent regional and international medical and humanitarian intervention to save this critical sector. Ziad Zoubi, President of the JMA, highlighted that the conference will adopt various initiatives aimed at supporting and rebuilding Gaza’s health sector. The event will feature scientific sessions addressing the main challenges facing Gaza's health sector, the central role of Jordan in leading relief efforts, and obstacles hindering the delivery of health aid to Gaza. It will also explore practical solutions to ensure the sustainability and effectiveness of health support. Zoubi announced that the conference will launch an international health platform designed to connect health projects in Gaza with global donor institutions, facilitating the achievement of strategic goals to enhance the sector’s capacity and provide sustainable solutions to the ongoing health crises. Additionally, the conference seeks to encourage donors and partners from both the public and private sectors to support targeted relief and development projects, focusing on sustainable development and fostering effective partnerships to advance Gaza’s health sector. A special allocation will be announced at the conference to rehabilitate and develop Gaza's healthcare system. This significant step aims to strengthen humanitarian and medical efforts in Gaza and provide the necessary support to overcome the challenges faced by the region’s health sector. Participants in the conference will represent the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, Norway, Sweden, Belgium, Romania, Turkey, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Qatar, Iraq, Bahrain, Palestine, Tunisia, Egypt, Algeria, Morocco, Lebanon, Indonesia, Malaysia, and South Africa. //Petra//
