Amman, Jan. 16 (Petra)-- Jordan celebrated a historic achievement as students from the Jordan Young Scientist Competition (JoYS) 2024 won the First International Prize at the BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition (BTYSTE) 2025.

Representing the Yarmouk University Model School in Irbid, students Wasfi AlRashdan, Ahmad Shatnawi, and Mohammad AlShorman, guided by their teacher Ali Al-Dbabi, earned international prize for their innovative Intracranial Tumour Detector project, which offers ground-breaking advancements in medical diagnostics.

This year marked the first inclusion of the International Competition at BTYSTE, with Jordan’s participation, led by the JoYS Programme, achieving remarkable success. The event was attended by Ambassador Marianne Bolger, Mohammad Tahboub, Chairman of the Board, and a Representative from The Crown Prince Foundation, emphasizing Jordan’s commitment to STEM education.

During the exhibition, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between Ireland’s Department of Foreign Affairs and BTYSTE, inspired by the success of the JoYS initiative. This agreement seeks to deepen collaboration and promote knowledge exchange in STEM education between both nations.

The JoYS Programme, modelled after BTYSTE, has engaged over 3,500 students and teachers across Jordan for the last 3 years, fostering innovation and empowering youth through STEM. This remarkable achievement reflects Jordan’s growing global presence in science and technology, driven by the dedication of its students and the strength of international partnerships.
