  7/ Development, Employment Fund Reports 12% Growth in Project Financing

Amman, February 23 (Petra) -- The Development and Employment Fund (DEEF) financed 1,599 projects across Jordan in 2024, marking a 12 percent increase from 1,422 projects in 2023, according to Director General Mansour Wreikat.

Speaking to the Jordan News Agency (Petra) on Sunday, Wreikat stated that project financing reached JD21.1 million last year, reflecting a 31 percent rise from JD16.1 million in 2023. The funded projects created 3,245 job opportunities, up 29 percent from 2,524 in the previous year. The percentage of female-led projects also grew, reaching 44 percent in 2024 compared to 39 percent in 2023.

The commercial sector accounted for 49.7 percent of funded projects, followed by education (21.3 percent), services (15.9 percent), tourism (5 percent), crafts (4.1 percent), and industry (4 percent).

Wreikat highlighted an improvement in loan repayment rates, with total collections reaching 94 percent in 2024, up from 93 percent in 2023. Additionally, the fund conducted 142 awareness sessions nationwide, an 8 percent increase from 131 sessions in the previous year.
