7/ Gov't Adjusts Work Hours as Arctic Chill Brings Freezing Temperatures

Amman, Feb. 22 (Petra) -- Prime Minister Jaafar Hassan on Saturday announced a temporary adjustment to official working hours for government institutions early next week as the Kingdom braces for subzero temperatures caused by a polar air mass.

Under the directive, ministries, public agencies, state-owned companies, official universities, municipalities, joint service councils, and the Greater Amman Municipality will operate from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday (Feb. 23-25).

The decision comes in response to an expected sharp drop in temperatures, with forecasts predicting freezing conditions and widespread frost, particularly in the early morning and evening hours. While the system is not expected to bring significant rain or snowfall, the extreme cold could pose risks to public safety and transportation.

Authorities have urged residents to take necessary precautions against the frigid conditions.
