Amman, Feb 22 (Petra) -- A Senate delegation, headed by Senator Suhair Al-Ali, participated in the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean's (PAM) 19th Plenary Session, which was recently held in Rome.

The delegation also attended meetings of the three committees of the Assembly, which comprised 33 Northern and Southern Mediterranean countries, in addition to Gulf Arab countries.

Represented by Al-Ali, Jordan, an active member of the Assembly since 2006, was chosen Vice President of the Assembly and Chair of the Second Committee on Economic Cooperation, one of 4 Vice Presidents from the countries of the South for 2025-2026, the Senate said in a statement on Saturday.

In her address to the assembly, Al-Ali reiterated Jordan's firm rejection of the displacement of Palestinians, underlined the legitimacy of international resolutions on the establishment of a viable Palestinian state, and the 2002 Arab Initiative adopting the two-state solution.

She stressed the importance of sustaining the ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and halting Israel's war, warning against escalation in the West Bank and Jerusalem.

Al-Ali told the meeting Jordan made tremendous efforts to break the siege on Gaza, adding that the Kingdom carried out 390 airdrops with Arab and world countries, including 125 by the Royal Jordanian Air Force. It also sent 160 aid convoys, including 6,200 trucks in a land bridge of humanitarian aid.
