6/ Jordan Valley Authority Declares Emergency Amid Flood Risks

Jordan Valley, Feb. 20 (Petra) -- The Jordan Valley Authority has declared a state of emergency in response to the approaching weather system, warning of potential flash floods in valley streams and rising water levels in reservoirs.

In a statement Thursday, the authority announced the activation of its emergency plan across all affiliated departments in the northern, central, and southern Jordan Valley, as well as at dam sites and the control directorate.

Measures include increasing the readiness of teams, equipment, and machinery to ensure a swift response to public needs, particularly in areas near water reservoirs.

The authority urged residents, farmers, and livestock breeders to take necessary precautions, avoid flood-prone areas, and stay away from water collection sites, dams, and riverbeds. It also emphasized the importance of following official weather updates to stay informed about developments.

Field teams across the Jordan Valley will operate around the clock to handle emergency situations and mitigate the impact of the weather conditions. Dedicated emergency hotlines have been set up for public inquiries and incident reporting:
Northern and Central Jordan Valley Water Sources: 0780469438 / 053570594
Southern Jordan Valley Water Sources: 0790565088 / 0795137874

The measures are part of broader national efforts to safeguard public safety and manage potential risks arising from unstable weather conditions, reinforcing the need for coordinated action between authorities and local communities.
