32/ Youth Minister, EU Ambassador Tour Development Projects in Tafila

Amman, Feb. 20 (Petra) -- Youth Minister Yazan Al-Shdeifat and EU Ambassador to Jordan Pierre-Christophe Chatzisavas visited several EU-supported youth development projects in Tafila governorate today to evaluate their progress and impact on youth skills development.

The visit began with a meeting at the governorate building with Tafila Governor Omar Zyoud, MP Maysoon Qawabea, Governorate Council President Ahmad Hawamda, and Tafila Mayor Hazem Odinat to discuss enhancing youth and sports activities in the region.

The officials observed a training program on "Small and Medium Enterprise Development" at the Al-Ain Al-Baida Community Development Center, part of the UPLOAD SOUTH project.

The initiative aims to enhance digital opportunities and provide technical and entrepreneurial skills to 1,900 young people from Karak, Tafila, Ma'an, and Aqaba governorates.

They also visited the "Hudour" project at Tafila Sports Complex, implemented by the Ministry of Youth in partnership with Generations For Peace, which has benefited 20,000 young people across various governorates. The project focuses on digital skills, civic engagement, and mental health support.

Al-Shdeifat emphasized the importance of these projects in youth empowerment and highlighted the ministry's efforts to implement Royal directives through skills development and improved sports infrastructure.

Ambassador Chatzisavas noted that the visit reflects a broader strategy to strengthen EU-Jordan partnership, focusing on youth as key drivers of sustainable progress.

"Through these collaborative efforts, Tafila's youth become active participants in shaping their development story, not just beneficiaries," he said.

The Minister's visit began at the Tafila Youth Directorate, where he reviewed the operations of youth centers and the directorate's plans for 2025.
