24/ Climate Resilience Project Kicks off in Madaba

Madaba, February 20 (Petra) -- Mercy Corps has launched the "Community Resilience and Response to Climate Change" project in the municipality of Lubb and Mleih, Madaba Governorate. The project, which commenced in early 2025, is set to run until 2027.

Project coordinator Ahmed Jaber stated that the initiative aims to strengthen climate adaptation efforts by enhancing policy enforcement, disaster risk reduction, and promoting investments in resilience-building initiatives.

He highlighted that the project aligns with Mercy Corps' mission to support vulnerable communities, particularly in Dhiban and Mleih. Additionally, the initiative is being implemented in Azraq, Wadi Musa, and Shobak, areas identified as highly susceptible to flash floods, heat waves, and water scarcity.

Mleih District Director Mukhled Hamad and Mayor Hussein Samarat reaffirmed their commitment to collaborating with Mercy Corps to achieve the project's objectives in addressing climate change challenges in the region.
