12/ University of Jordan Inaugurates Smart Classrooms with Korean Support
Amman, February 20 (Petra) -- President of the University of Jordan, Nazir Obeidat, inaugurated smart classrooms in the health and humanitarian halls buildings, renovated with support from Korea. According to a university statement on Thursday, the newly opened halls are equipped with advanced interactive educational technologies, fostering an enhanced learning environment for students. During the inauguration, Obeidat welcomed Korean Ambassador Kim Pil-woo, emphasizing the strong relations between Jordan and Korea and commending Korea’s continued support for the university. He highlighted the importance of academic and cultural collaboration, including exchange programs, which enrich the educational and research landscape. He also underscored Korea’s influence in higher education development, noting that 70 percent of the university's classrooms were modernized with Korean funding, with plans to renovate the remaining halls. Obeidat pointed to the significance of teaching the Korean language at the university to bolster cultural ties and expressed the university's aspiration to establish the Korean Engineering Training Institute (KIET). The proposed institute, in partnership with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), will focus on cybersecurity, green energy, the Internet of Things, and artificial intelligence. For his part, Ambassador Kim expressed optimism that the smart screens provided by Korea would enhance education, foster innovation, and empower students. He reaffirmed that investment in education is a cornerstone of Korea’s development strategy and reiterated Korea’s commitment to supporting vocational education and training in Jordan, particularly through collaboration with the University of Jordan. //Petra// AJ
