  8/ Jordan Hosts Digital Cooperation Organization Assembly, PM Emphasizes Digital Transformation

Amman, Feb. 19 (Petra) -- Prime Minister Jafar Hassan received Secretary-General of the Digital Cooperation Organization (DCO) Deemah Al-Yahya and delegation heads participating in the Fourth General Assembly of the DCO at the Dead Sea Wednesday. Jordan currently chairs the organization.

During the meeting at the Prime Minister's Office, Hassan praised the organization's role in enhancing digital cooperation among member states and supporting digital transformation to achieve sustainable development goals.

The Prime Minister highlighted Jordan's National Council for Future Technology, established under His Majesty King Abdullah II's directives and His Royal Highness Crown Prince Hussein's oversight.

The council will play a pivotal role in shaping state digital policies, strengthening private sector partnerships, and keeping pace with technological advancement.

Hassan emphasized the significance of Jordan hosting the assembly amid accelerating global digital transformations, noting that Jordan's digital transformation vision aligns with the organization's objectives.

DCO Secretary-General Al-Yahya thanked the Jordanian government for hosting the Fourth General Assembly, describing it as a significant milestone in digital cooperation among member states.

"We are witnessing unprecedented digital transformation that requires collective action to enhance digital opportunities and enable communities to fully benefit from modern technologies," she said.

Al-Yahya added that the Jordan meeting reflects their collective commitment to developing an inclusive, prosperous digital environment that creates sustainable economic opportunities for the future.

She noted that the organization seeks to unify efforts in enabling digital innovation and entrepreneurship, ensuring digital inclusion with a focus on supporting youth and women in the digital economy.

Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Minister Sami Smeirat said the assembly, under Jordan's presidency, demonstrates the country's commitment to strengthening digital cooperation with the organization's 16 member states.

Participating delegation heads affirmed member states' commitment to enhancing joint cooperation and supporting the organization's initiatives to achieve its ambitious vision of building an inclusive and sustainable digital economy.
