10/ South Gaza 5 Field Hospital Fits Prosthetic Limbs, Offers Rehabilitation to Amputees
Amman, February 18 (Petra) – Medical teams from the "South Gaza 5" field hospital, operating under the "Restore Hope" initiative, continue to provide treatment and humanitarian services to amputees in the Gaza Strip, in line with royal directives to support the Gaza Strip and help its residents overcome the aftermath of the Israeli war. The hospital force commander stated, "In implementation of the royal directives to support the injured in Gaza, the hospital staff has successfully fitted 333 prosthetic limbs since arriving at the mission site." The commander highlighted that these efforts aim to alleviate the suffering of amputees, enhancing their quality of life and enabling them to resume daily activities. The hospital director noted that the rapid installation of prosthetic limbs represents a significant achievement, with each operation completed in just one hour. This is a remarkable improvement compared to traditional methods that require several months of training and rehabilitation. The prosthetic limbs used in the initiative are adjustable, allowing recipients to customize them according to their individual needs. A prosthetics specialist underscored the importance of physical rehabilitation in helping patients adapt to their new limbs. The medical teams provide comprehensive physical therapy sessions, psychological and social support, and educational guidance on limb care to promote independence and improve patients' morale. These services are delivered through two mobile clinics, ensuring essential medical support reaches all patients. The limb installation procedures are documented electronically via the "Hakeem" program, enabling patients to receive remote follow-up care from rehabilitation specialists in Jordan, thereby ensuring continuity of healthcare services. //Petra// AJ
