14/ Jordan Launches Guide for Home Nursery Standards

Amman, Feb. 17 (Petra) - The National Council for Family Affairs (NCFA), in cooperation with the World University Service of Canada (WUSC), launched a guide on Monday outlining procedures and standards for establishing and operating home nurseries in Jordan.

The initiative is part of the Burden of Childcare Reduced and Addressed for Women in Jordan (BUCRA) project.

NCFA Secretary-General Mohammad Miqdadi emphasized that investing in children is a national priority, noting that the guide enhances childcare standards, encourages investment in home nurseries, and improves service quality. He highlighted the role of parents in evaluating nurseries and providing feedback to ensure quality improvements.

Miqdadi stressed that home nurseries contribute to children's health, psychological, and social well-being by providing safe environments that support their development, mental growth, and social skills. He added that the guide aligns with the Ministry of Social Development’s 2021 nursery licensing regulations, ensuring comprehensive care and legal protection for children.

WUSC Jordan Office Director Nancy Momani stated that home nurseries serve as small, pioneering projects that foster community development, empower women, and increase their participation in the labor market, thereby improving their economic standing.

She noted that the guide details key standards, procedures, and best practices for establishing and operating home nurseries.

BUCRA Project Director at the NCFA, Haitham Zoubi, said the guide targets individuals interested in the home nursery sector, which currently includes 33 nurseries, alongside 1,200 nurseries affiliated with government and private institutions across Jordan.
