34/ Tourism, Petra Officials Review Visitor Services as Activity Picks Up

Petra, Dec. 30 (Petra) - Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Imad Hijazin and Chief Commissioner of the Petra Development and Tourism Region Authority (PDTRA) Fares Braizat on Tuesday toured the archaeological site in the city of Petra to review tourist activity and services provided to visitors from around the world.

The visit, part of ongoing efforts to monitor the tourism sector and enhance the visitor experience at one of the world’s most important heritage sites, included a stop at the Crowne Plaza Petra hotel following its recent renovation and upgrade. The tour also covered the archaeological reserve and the Nabataean cultural village, where the two officials reviewed the level of services offered to visitors and the organization and guidance in place to ensure a comprehensive and safe tourism experience.

Hijazin expressed satisfaction with the noticeable return of tourist activity to Petra, saying the increase reflects the confidence of international and domestic visitors in the site’s ability to offer a unique tourism experience. He stressed continued cooperation with the PDTRA to organize tourism services and oversee the quality of the visitor experience.

Braizat said tourist activity at the site is currently strong and promising, expressing optimism that the momentum will continue through January and February and until the end of the next tourism season.

He added that the PDTRA will continue its efforts to improve the tourism work environment and upgrade services and supporting infrastructure in order to enhance the visitor experience and raise the overall standard of tourism services in Petra.
