Amman, Dec. 30 (Petra) -- Director of Jordan Meteorological Department (JMD) Raed Khattab said the current rainy season is "performing well and exceeding long-term averages" for this time of year across most regions of the Kingdom, particularly in southern areas.

In a statement Tuesday, Khattab noted the southern Jordan Valley has already achieved its full annual seasonal rainfall average, surpassing it by 7%.

Khattab added that the low-pressure system, which affected the Kingdom on Monday, contributed to increasing cumulative rainfall totals over a 48-hour period during the 2025–2026 rainy season.

Khattab noted downpour achieved so far ranges between 1-14% of the annual seasonal average, especially in northern and central regions and parts of the southwestern areas.

According to Khattab, the highest recorded rainfall amounts were registered at Al Hussein Gardens monitoring station with 50.5 mm, representing 11% of its seasonal average.

He added that southern Rabba region ranked 2nd with 47.1 mm (14 percent), northern Ras Munif area of Ajloun governorate with 46.1 mm (8 percent), and Salt with 45.6 mm (9 percent).
