40/ RFC organizes gala screening of Jordan’s shortlisted Oscar-nominated film "All That’s Left of You"
Amman, Dec. 17 (Petra)- Under the patronage of HRH Prince Ali bin Al Hussein, Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Royal Film Commission (RFC), and in the presence of HRH Princess Rym Ali, executive member of the Board of Commissioners of the RFC, HRH Princess Jalila bint Ali, and HRH Prince Abdullah bin Ali, the Royal Film Commission organized a private screening of the Jordanian feature film "All That’s Left of You" on Tuesday evening at Taj Cinemas in Amman. The film is officially shortlisted for the 98th Academy Awards in 2026, competing in the International Feature Film category. It is directed and written by Cherien Dabis. The premiere was attended by Minister of Education and Higher Education Azmi Mahafzah, director and producer Rula Nasser, cast members, and a large number of filmmakers and industry professionals. Most of the film was shot across Amman, Balqa, Jerash, and Irbid over six weeks, with financial support from the Royal Film Commission. RFC Director General Muhannad Al-Bakri noted that the film reflects the Commission’s ongoing efforts to develop Jordan’s film industry and enhance the Kingdom’s presence in major international cinematic platforms. He highlighted that its shortlisting at the 2026 Academy Awards adds special significance to the premiere and underscores the growing global recognition of Jordanian cinema. Dabis expressed her joy at the film reaching the shortlist, thanking the RFC, all participants, and the production and supporting entities. The Oscars nominations will be announced on January 22, 2026, with the awards ceremony scheduled for March 16, 2026. "All That’s Left of You" stars Saleh Bakri, Adam Bakri, Mohammad Bakri, Cherien Dabis, and Maria Zreiq. The film follows a Palestinian teenager involved in protests in the West Bank as his mother recounts their family’s multigenerational story of hope, courage, and persistent struggle leading to this pivotal moment. The film has earned critical acclaim at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival and has won multiple international awards, including the Golden Gate Award and Audience Award for Best Narrative at the San Francisco International Film Festival, the Audience Award for Best International Narrative at the Sydney Film Festival, Best Film and Best Screenplay awards at the Malaysia International Film Festival, and the Silver Yusr Award at the Red Sea Film Festival. //Petra// AF
