  37/ Senate Delegation Holds Meetings with Qatari Officials in Doha

Amman, Dec. 10 (Petra) A delegation from the Senate held a series of meetings with senior officials in Qatar aimed at strengthening Jordanian-Qatari ties, expanding parliamentary and social cooperation, and building effective partnerships that serve the shared interests of the two brotherly countries.

According to a Senate statement, the delegation attending bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the Doha Forum 2025 included Senators Yahya Al-Kasbi, Khawla Al-Armouti, Chair of the Women’s Committee and head of the Jordan-Qatar Parliamentary Friendship Committee, and Senators Reem Abu Dalbouh and Naseema Al-Fakehri.

The delegation met with Deputy Speaker of Qatar’s Shura Council, Hamda Al-Sulaiti, who highlighted the deep fraternal relations between Qatar and Jordan, praising the efforts of His Majesty King Abdullah in advancing the strategic partnership between the two countries. She also commended Senate President Faisal Al-Fayez’s active role in developing joint parliamentary work.

For her part, Senator Al-Armouti underscored the importance of exploring cooperation prospects between the Senate and the Shura Council, particularly in legislative expertise exchange, preparing a memorandum of understanding to enhance joint legislative, educational and training efforts, and organizing reciprocal visits at all levels. She also proposed joint training programs for parliamentarians and staff from both sides.

The delegation also met with Qatar’s Minister of State for International Cooperation, Maryam Al-Misnad, who stressed that unemployment is a shared priority, highlighting the need to address it by supporting productive families, small projects and handicraft production, given its direct impact on reducing poverty and unemployment.

Al-Misnad expressed the ministry’s willingness to support the organization of an exhibition for handicraft products, proposing it be held next April.

In a meeting with Qatar’s Minister of Social Development, Buthaina Al-Naimi, discussions focused on vocational training and benefiting from Qatari experience in this field.

Senator Al-Armouti also emphasized the importance of enhancing cooperation between the Senate’s Women’s Committee and the ministry, especially in exchanging legislative expertise and reviewing laws that support women’s empowerment and representation at all levels, in addition to expanding women's economic participation and entrepreneurship.
