6/ BAU Ranks 42nd Globally in UI GreenMetric, First in Jordan
Al-Salt, Dec. 8 (Petra) -- Al-Balqa Applied University (BAU) has secured the top position among Jordanian universities and ranked 42nd globally in the 2025 UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, marking a notable rise compared with previous years. According to the ranking results, the university demonstrated consistent progress over the past three years, placing 52nd worldwide in 2023 and 53rd in 2024 before advancing this year to 42nd out of 1,547 universities. The improvement reflects sustained efforts in renewable energy, water and waste management, sustainable transportation, education, and scientific research. University President Dr. Ahmad Fakhri Al-Ajlouni said the achievement underscores the success of strategic projects aligned with national goals for clean energy and the green economy. He noted that several additional initiatives are underway, including green digital transformation, expanded solar energy use, and further development of environmentally friendly transportation systems, with the ambition of reaching the top 30 universities globally. Vice President for Planning and Quality Assurance, Dr. Haitham Al-Shibli, highlighted that the university’s global standing is the result of coordinated institutional work focused on resource management, expanding green spaces, building a sustainable campus environment, and strengthening research and teaching linked to the Sustainable Development Goals.
