30/ JD18.45m Amman wastewater project agreement inked
Amman, Dec 8 (Petra) – Minister of Water and Irrigation Raed Abu Saud and Chairman and CEO​​ of the Egyptian "Arab Contractors Company Ahmed El Assar on Monday signed a JD18.45 million agreement for wastewater projects in southwest Amman. The projects, part of the first and second packages, will be funded by the German KfW Development Bank. Abu Saud said the first and second packages will include construction of a wastewater network to serve parts of Marj Al-Hamam and Na'ur districts of southwest Amman, according to a press release by the Water Ministry. It involves construction of a network 300 to 600 mm in diameter and 32 KM long, an additional 5 KM household connections as well as rehabilitation of 2 KM of the Wadi Al-Seer pipeline. The project is to improve wastewater services in southwest Amman and enhance the environmental situation in line with the Sustainable Development Goals, he said. The areas covered by the first and second phases include most of the Na'ur basin, he said, stressing that the Ministry is seeking to extend sanitation services to most areas of the Kingdom. Abu Saud thanked international partners, particularly the KfW Development Bank, for their contributions and the Arab Contractors Company for implementing high-quality service projects in Jordan. //Petra//SS
