14/ House Speaker, Japanese Ambassador Talk Cooperation
Amman, Dec. 7 (Petra) – Lower House Speaker Mazen Qadi on Sunday received Japan’s Ambassador to Jordan, Asari Hideki, for talks on enhancing relations, particularly parliamentary cooperation. During the meeting held at the House's headquarters, Qadi and Asari affirmed that His Majesty King Abdullah II’s visit to Tokyo last month opened "new" prospects for joint economic cooperation and further strengthened the "longstanding" bilateral ties. The two officials also called for advancing the two-state solution as the gateway to security and stability in the region and the guarantee of the Palestinian people’s right to establish their independent state. Qadi said His Majesty is "committed" to expanding cooperation with Japan, noting its vital political and economic role and expressing appreciation for Japan’s continued support to Jordan across multiple sectors. Qadi outlined the comprehensive modernization tracks launched by His Majesty at the beginning of Jordan's second centennial, highlighting the country's economic challenges due to regional instability and successive refugee inflows, for which the Kingdom has provided full care. For his part, Asari said His Majesty King Abdullah II is a "voice of moderation and wisdom," and enjoys the respect of the international community, adding that His Majesty maintains distinguished relations with many senior officials in Japan. The diplomat stated Jordan is a "strategic" partner for Japan, indicating and that the two countries share aligned positions on many regional issues and affirming Japan’s continued support for Jordan in all fields. //Petra// NQ
