35/ NEPCO Says Grid Ready for Winter Season

Amman, Dec. 3 (Petra) – The National Electric Power Company (NEPCO) has completed preparations to ensure the technical readiness of the national power grid for the current winter season, according to Managing Director Sofian Al-Bataineh. He said measures taken in recent weeks have strengthened network reliability and reduced the likelihood of outages.

During a field visit on Wednesday to the 400 kV Ma’an substation, Al-Bataineh reviewed technical work completed by company teams as part of broader efforts to enhance grid preparedness ahead of winter.

A company statement said Al-Bataineh received a detailed technical briefing on corrective measures carried out to address instability affecting the station’s main and backup busbars, an issue that becomes more pronounced during periods of high wind speeds. The remedial work included several engineering solutions designed to improve equipment stability and ensure an uninterrupted electricity supply.

Al-Bataineh commended the technical teams for their sustained efforts in implementing the required upgrades, stressing that these measures directly improve network reliability and minimize outage risks, particularly as demand increases during the winter season.

He added that NEPCO continues to implement its technical and preventive plans through field inspections and close monitoring of the transmission system across the country, aiming to strengthen infrastructure readiness and enhance operational dependability.
