Sheikh Hussein Crossing, Dec.1 (Petra) – Jordan, under royal directives, continues humanitarian initiatives to ease the suffering of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip through providing essential needs amid challenging conditions.

Regional Response Director for the Middle East and North Africa at World Central Kitchen (WCK), Wadhah Hubaishi, said on Monday that two additional mobile bakeries crossing Sheikh Hussein will significantly support food stability in the Gaza Strip.

The initiative reflects Jordan’s ongoing support in addressing humanitarian needs, including food, medicine, and relief materials, he told Petra in an interview.

Hubaishi said the production capacity of the two bakeries, alongside a mobile bakery sent last year, will reach around 210,000 loaves daily.

Each mobile bakery produces approximately 70,000 loaves per day, while the first bakery has delivered some 12 million loaves since the beginning of the year, benefiting thousands of families, he said.

One of the new bakeries, he said, will be in Gaza City, and the other’s location will depend on population movements, serving high density areas.

The first bakery currently operates in Deir Al-Balah and can relocate to safer and more in-need areas, said Hubaishi.

He commended Jordan’s generous support, describing the bakeries as a vital humanitarian imprint to address food needs and alleviate family hardships in the Strip.

He also highlighted Jordan’s ongoing cooperation in securing essential supplies and facilitating aid organizations’ work.

WCK currently manages six field kitchens and several distribution centers in Gaza, producing around 700,000 meals daily, about 50 percent of the total hot meal output in the Strip.

Hubaishi confirmed continued collaboration between Jordan and the World Central Kitchen to expand humanitarian response and enhance food aid systems.

The mobile bakeries serve as a model for crisis response and rapid intervention in humanitarian disasters, he said.

These efforts are part of a series of Jordanian initiatives under royal directives, including sending food and medical convoys, deploying field hospitals, launching the "Restore Hope" program to provide prosthetics for war victims, and the Jordanian medical corridor initiative to treat patients from Gaza in Jordanian hospital.
