25/ Company Registrations Surge to Record High Since 2014, Says Official
Amman, Dec. 1 (Petra) – The General Controller of Companies, Wael Armouti, said the number of companies registered in Jordan over the past 11 months has grown at an unprecedented rate since 2014, rising 46 percent compared to that year, while total capital raised reached an all-time high. In a statement to the Jordan News Agency (Petra), Armouti said the figures reflect the government’s commitment to improving the business environment and implementing the Economic Modernization Vision. He noted that the Companies Control Department continues to enhance its digital platforms to facilitate company registration, financial and legal amendments, and the issuance of certificates and documents efficiently and securely. According to official statistics, 6,988 companies were registered from January through November, a 49 percent increase over the same period in 2019 (base year) and a 19 percent rise compared to 2024, when 5,864 firms were registered. Total registered capital for the period exceeded JD 422 million. Limited liability companies accounted for the majority of registrations, with 5,103 firms representing 73 percent of the total and capital exceeding JD 168 million. Private shareholding companies followed, with capital surpassing JD 164 million. The data also showed a decline in deregistrations, with cancelations falling 73 percent compared to 2019 and 28 percent compared to 2024.
